Pasqua First Nation Election Act Information Meetings
Background: Pasqua First Nation currently elects its leadership using policies set out in The Indian Act. Pasqua First Nation is currently exploring the option to transition to The First Nations Election Act. The purpose of the information meeting is to review the differences in how our future elections will be held. Citizens are invited to attend any of the below scheduled information meeting regarding this potential change:
Key Differences:
- Term of office will change from 2 years to 4 years.
- A Fee for candidates seeking a position for Chief or Council.
- Appeals will not be handled by Indigenous Services Canada but by the Federal Courts.

Memo on Measles
For residents living on Pasqua with and without children please contact our Community Health Nurse, Lisa Cook for measles vaccination record and appointment (if necessary). For all other Pasqua members living off Pasqua please contact your local Public Health Office for measles vaccination record.

Pasqua First Nation Spray Park
The leadership of Pasqua First Nation is excited to announce that PFN is one of the successful recipients of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program Projects. Pasqua First Nation will receive $677,314.00 in funding to design and construct a Spray Park for the citizens of Pasqua First Nation.

Pasqua’s 1910 Railway Claim
ANNOUNCEMENT
On June 12 & 13, 2023, Pasqua First Nation Council did Power Point Presentation updates on:
1. Pasqua’s 1910 Railway Claim. Available on PFN Website
a. Status:
i. Canada has accepted Pasqua’s offer to settle in the amount of Three Million Dollars ($3,000,000.00 )
ii. This amount was reported at the June 12 & 13, 2023 meetings to Pasqua Citizens.
2. Pasqua’s Treaty Agriculture Benefits Claim. Also known as: (Cows & Plows). Available on PFN Website
a. Status:
i. Canada has provided Pasqua First Nation with a letter offering to negotiate a settlement of this Claim.
b. Next Steps:
i. Pasqua Council will be meeting with Canada’s representatives in early September to discuss settlement of this claim.
ii. Pasqua Council will be scheduling meetings with Pasqua citizens after the conclusion of the Canada/Pasqua Negotiation meeting and provide an update.
